Last week, the mayor of Flint, Michigan declared a state of emergency due to severe lead contamination in the city's drinking water system, a problem that began when the city of Flint began using water from the Flint River as a drinking water supply after leaving the Detroit water system to save money.

Flint residents were first warned not to drink their tap water unfiltered back in October after tests revealed the city's water supply was causing elevated levels of lead in children due to the leaching of lead from corrosive, aging pipes that supplied their drinking water.
"Lead at any level can be associated with decreases in IQ, behavioral disorders, even an association with certain juvenile delinquency as these children get older," said Dr. Eden Wells, Chief Medical Executive for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
Young children (6 years and under), whose brains are still developing, are at the most risk. For adults, drinking water contaminated with excess lead may lead to kidney problems and high blood pressure.

At Adya, we believe that everyone deserves clean, healthy drinking water that's free of harmful contaminants like heavy metals, disinfectants, disinfection byproducts, industrial and agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and microorganisms. We also believe that high-quality, contaminant-free water should be easily affordable for everyone. That's why we created the Adya For Everyone™ Program.

The Adya For Everyone™ Program is designed to help low-income individuals and families access our water purification and filtration products that reduce dangerous contaminants like lead, mercury, chemicals, prescription drugs, pesticides, chlorine, and fluoride out of drinking water at an affordable rate within their financial means.
